Breast Cancer Signs During Menopause
Women must beware that the risk of breast cancer increases with age. Studies have shown that women who go through menopause at a later age are at a higher risk of getting breast cancer compared to those who experience menopause early. Here’s a look at the common symptoms of breast cancer in menopausal women. Lump in the Breast or Underarm While benign breast lumps are common in menopausal women, they can be cancerous at times. Therefore, if one notices any lump in their breast, they should get it checked by a specialist. Breast Swelling If one notices a swelling in the breast or near the collarbone or armpit, it may be because of breast cancer. The swelling may also change the shape and size of your breast. Pain in the Breast, Shoulder, and Upper Back Breast pain is normal during periods and hormonal changes. But if the pain persists, it may also be a sign of breast cancer. This is one of the most common symptoms of breast cancer in menopausal women. The pain may appear in the breast, collarbone, or underarm. Some may also experience pain in the upper back and shoulder. Many times, the pain is wrongly inferred as a muscle strain or muscle pull.
